Achieving this took 4 major trips spread over 14 years ...
... It required a dream and determination!

After a contract in Tanzania, in 1980 I did my first overland trip with my wife, 5 months in my 1977 Land Rover Series III.

This trip was through the equatorial forest of Zaïre (now DRC) and the Sahara (Niger & Algeria).

1994 - Trip # 4: Rwanda to Switzerland - 17'410 km
With my family (three daughters, 10, 8, 6 years old) we drove from Rwanda to Switzerland,
it took us over 6 months, travelling through the Horn of Africa and Yemen.

As my short wheel base Land Rover was now too small for the whole family, we shall travel along with a Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ 80.

Tanzania - Mwanza - October 1993

Kenya - Chyulu Hills - November 1993

Ethiopia - Ant hill in the Omo Valley - 24 January 1994

Crossing the Red sea in a dhow - Assab/Eritrea to Al Mukha/Yemen - 9 march 1994

April 1994 - Our arrival in Switzerland after 6 months of travel full of excitments and mishaps...
